Equality Bill 2009

We have been delivering training that incorporates the principle components of the current Equality Bill before Parliament. One of its main features is the extension of the public sector equality duty (currently race, gender and disability) to include:

age, religion or belief and sexual orientation, as well as pregnancy & maternity and gender reassignment;

additionally also ‘to reduce the inequalities of outcome which result from socio-economic disadvantage’. The impact on the private sector will come from the much tighter procurement arrangements which will place far greater emphasis on companies and suppliers to the public bodies having to demonstrate good practice.

Please click here for a summary of the Bill.
